FCS Extension programs aim to improve the quality of individual and family life through education, research, and outreach.
What is Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS)?
FCS stands for Family and Consumer Sciences Extension. FCS programming focus on building assets of individuals and families to address problems faced across the lifespan. Family and Consumer Sciences Extension emphasizes well-being with a focus on human development, parenting, resource management, nutrition, health and leadership development.
At the community level, FCS Extension prepares individuals for community and economic development and activity. Professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences Extension provide the tools to help individuals and families to develop resources for strengthening families and building community for an ever changing society.

$1,000 Madison County Extension Homemaker College Scholarship
The Madison County Extension Homemaker Association is offering a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a local student to aid them in their college education.
The recipient must be a graduating Madison County High School or homeschooled senior who plans to major in Family & Consumer Sciences, Agriculture, or Horticulture. This is a one-time award; a new senior is selected each year. The application will also be available online at https://madison.ca.uky.edu under the Family Consumer Sciences tab.
If you have seniors who would be interested in applying, please have them complete and return the enclosed application form, postmarked by April 1, 2025, to the attention of Jessica Hunley, at the Madison County Extension Education Center, 230 Duncannon Lane, Richmond, KY 40475. You are encouraged to copy and share all the information contained herein with your schools’ Family and Consumer Science, Agriculture or Horticulture students, teachers, and counselors.
